Social and Personality Psychologists at UGA (SPUGA)

Who We Are:

Social and Personality Psychologists at UGA (SPUGA) is a graduate student organization geared toward advancing the research of social and personality psychology, broadly defined to include topics like health and wellbeing, workplace psychology, biological foundations of psychology, motivation and self-regulation, cultural psychology, and individual differences.

Our organization is open to any and all graduate students who are interested in Social and Personality Psychology. We occasionally open our lectures to advanced undergraduate students.

What We Do:

  • Host SPUGA Fridays, which are a series of lectures that happen on one Friday out of the month during fall and spring semesters. These lectures are given by faculty and graduate students, from the Psychology Department and other departments (such as Sociology, Public Health, and Marketing) on UGA's campus. SPUGA Fridays are free to attend and open to all interested audiences.
  • Host an Invited Lecturer who speaks on a topic relevant to SPUGA's interests. The Invited Lecturer is usually hosted in the spring semester.
  • Provide an academic library of books and journals related to our field to our members.
  • Review and revise members' ongoing manuscripts as they are ready to be edited.
