He has over 25 years of experience in the design and implementation of talent development processes and programs. Over the last decade Val has worked with many hundreds of executives providing individual assessment and coaching. He has worked with varied industries from healthcare to hospitality, from technology to financial services.

Prior to founding Vmark Consulting in 2006, Val led the Leadership Development efforts at BellSouth, now AT&T. In that capacity, he directed the identification and development of current and future leaders for the organization. He was responsible for the succession planning process, high potential development programs, executive education through the BellSouth Leadership Institute, and staffing of the top 1000 positions within the company. Prior to joining BellSouth, he worked as an internal consultant in personnel selection and organizational development in both the private (USX) and public sector (City of Miami, Florida). Val has designed and implemented talent review processes, coaching and mentoring programs, educational offerings, and formal assessment processes.

Val’s education includes an MS and Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia and BA degree in Psychology from Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, where he grew up.

Val is heavily involved in leadership in his community and church. He is anxiously engaged in the development of others, especially youth. He is an avid exerciser and endurance athlete having completed a full ironman, numerous half ironman events, many marathons, and dozens of century (100 mile) or longer bike rides. Val and his wife, Blanche are the proud parents of 3 children and 10 grandchildren. Their family now touches both the west and east coasts of the United States.
