Clinical Psychology program alumna, Dr. Laura Simons, Elected President of the Society of Pediatric Psychology!

Congratulations to Clinical Psychology program alumna Dr. Laura Simons, PhD on her recent election as President of the Society of Pediatric Psychology! Dr. Simons received her PhD from UGA in 2006 and is currently Associate Professor of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine in Pediatrics at the Stanford University Medical Center. Dr. Simons’ body of research focuses on promoting the health and well-being of children and adolescents with chronic pain and their families by examining biological, neurological, cognitive, affective, and social risk and resiliency factors of the pain experience. In her career thus far, Dr. Simons has received several awards in recognition of her work, including the 2012 Society of Pediatric Psychology’s Routh Early Career Award and the 2017 International Association for the Study of Pain Early Career Award in Pediatric Pain. Congratulations to SPP President-Elect, Dr. Simons!
